Office Work & Recovery

First, let me say the term “office” is being used pretty loosely here.  What we actually have is a large desk, laptop, printer, bubble butt chair (to keep me from slouching), filing cabinet, and of course comfy spot for Whiskey to supervise all my work. *To be completely honest Whiskey tends to trust me and spend most of his time asleep on the job.

But it still effectively serves as the place where we get office type work done around here, so the term office will just have to do.   Hmmm, in retrospect maybe I should have actually cleaned it before taking the picture.  Although that would be a lot like false advertizing.  And I think y’all know I much prefer the dog yard to the office.  But while my knee is healing I am focusing on doing inside chores, and getting things ready now so this winter we can focus on the things we really enjoy – running dogs!  As you may know we plan to have Dan run the team in the Tustumena 200, and then have me run the Northern Lights 300 and the 2015 Iditarod. In addition  we are very excited to be offering some custom dogsled camping trips for guests as part of this winters game plan.

Along with all the fun I am having at the desk I also get to do a few hours of PT daily.  And I want to assure everyone of the following:

  1. No one is more invested in this then I am!
  2. I am working with a  team of very talented individuals at Sports Medicine Fairbanks and Adient Physical Therapy, seriously these folks are Great!
  3. I am doing, and more importantly NOT doing exactly what my team of professionals tells me.  Even thought it is driving me near batty to not do what I want to do, I understand the reasons why. I really trust them, and everyone involved knows my long term goals and how important they are to me.
  4. Of course there are days it is frustratingly slow, and yes I would love to be more active right now. BUT I flatter myself to think I am a smart woman, and as such I know that I need to take the time and effort to invest in my healing. So when I start to stress out about what I am not doing I remind myself why this process is so important.  And then to make myself feel useful I do one of the things I get to do lots of – my prescribed PT 🙂

Since my operation I have received a huge outpouring of well wishes and encouragement.  As well as much concern about how I am handling the post surgery process. And I really want to and thank everyone for the well wishes & concern, and  reassure people that I am being smart and doing fine.  Keep focused on your goals, right?

goalIt is humbling to know so many people care about you.
Mush Thanks to all!
