Being Thankful this Holiday Season~

Hello All,

As we prepare for Thanksgiving I am reminded that we have a lot to be thankful for. Our dogs, our health, our families & dear friends.

You can see the Critterwoods here, as well as our 2 hook set up for the sled. But now there will be a much lighter, better snowhook sitting next to it when we race.

And today I also want to say a big huge Thank You to Orren & Judy Brownson, who have purchased a new Alaska Fordge Snowhook for Dew Claw.  In the past they have also purchased us a Critterwoods snowhook, thus making them the stopping power behind Dew Claw. Now you might not realize how much stopping is important to racing, what with the main focus on moving forward and all.  But being able to safely stop and hold a huge string of amped sled dogs is a critical thing; allowing you to get off the sled and work with dogs, fix tangles, check trail conditions, and a myriad of other things that just can not be done while moving. Two snowhooks are needed when the team is strong and powerful. Plus the second hook can be removed from the sled and attached to the front of the gangline to hold out the team when you stop and camp.  The Critterwoods is an amazing anchor, but all that heft means weight. The Alaska Fordge is super lightweight, complimenting the Critterwoods perfectly. Thanks to Orren and Judy we are set up with the best.

Also got the news that a friend of Dew Claw is helping us with a new laptop, which is great news! The Holiday Wish List is starting to fill up and that is certainly something we are thankful for.

Plus we received a call from our friends at Halliburton assuring us that they want to be a part of Team Dew Claw again this year. Their generous support started with my Iditarod rookie run in 2011, and the folks at the Anchorage office have gone above and beyond to help. Including, but not limited to, sending their own employees to help our team at the start in Anchorage, which is great fun for both us and them. You can see them with our team in this video Dan took.

As you can see we have a lot to be thankful for this holiday. To all our friends we wish you a wonderful holiday full of love and laughter.
