If you saw the photos from our last blog you know things have been pretty busy around here. Today is no different. Dogs are fed and yard is clean. Puppies got a nice free run this morning. Dan is hard at work making a new wood fired dog food cooker, which will save us a bundle in propane. And I am getting caffeinated for round 2 of today’s projects. Seems like the dogs are the only ones who get to be lazy on recovery days.
While enjoying my coffee is the perfect time to post a few updates to Team Dew Claw. First: join us in welcoming David Smith to the team! You can see all the Team Dew Claw members or learn about Joining the Team at our website.
Second: a highlight on one of our Checkpoint Sponsors. Checkpoint Sponsors have the opportunity to highlight a charitable or non profit organization with their checkpoint listing. This year Kirstie McGuinness is sponsoring the checkpoint of Iditarod. Along with her support of Dew Claw she hopes to help raise awareness and funds for the American Cancer Socity RELAY FOR LIFE. This has been a long time personal involvement for Kirstie. You may remember when she visited Fairbanks we participated in the Fairbanks RELAY FOR LIFE together. (read the blog post here) Please join us in thanking Kirstie for all she does; not just for Dew Claw Kennel, but for American Cancer Society as well. You can learn more about Kirstie’s efforts at her RELAY FOR LIFE site.
Lastly: but not at all leastly. We are very pleased to be working with Manmat this season. Having used their short harnesses for some years, we know they make quality gear we trust for our team. In a recent shipment for our race team there was a very special little gift for a very special little man. Whiskey wants to give a huge howl to the super folks at Manmat who even thought of him and sent a little mini Thermo Coat! Whiskey has never owned anything this warm, these coats are fully insulated, wind and water repellant. He was a little confused when I got him dressed up in it and then we went outside and it was above zero, I think he was expecting a blizzard. Thanks so much to the folks at Manmat. *For more photos, info, and mushing related posts you can ‘like’ Manmat on facebook too~
OK coffee is not kicking in,

Thanks again to all the amazing companies and people
