  1. Twitter is another great source of information, although it can feel like opening a firehose. Sometimes you see something that’s just wrong (you can’t believe the number of people who’ve run the Iditarod whose names were somehow deleted from the race history archive) or infuriating (animal rights tweets) or totally irrelevant (urban iditarod), but there are frequently unexpected gems from people or places you would not normally look.

    So, I use the Twitter search string “iditarod OR #iditarod”. Leave off the quotes, but the OR must be uppercase or it will be treated like a word you’re searching for.

    You can search from the Twitter search page or from a Twitter client. Search support varies a lot between clients but Tweetdeck has pretty fantastic search capabilities so I just stick what that.
