Your Alaskan mushing adventure ~
Dan and Jodi have been mushing for almost two decades. They have both completed the Yukon Quest and the Iditarod. As veterans of the major 1000 races they bring that knowledge and love of mushing to your trip with Dew Claw. They are available for beginners' rides; as well as longer trips for the more adventurous or experienced. Dan has built the custom sleds we will use for your adventure. Guests can relax and ride in the sled, or take a try at handling their own sled behind the main team. With a variety of trail options, we have the ability to plan custom adventures*.
You will be traveling with a team of friendly well trained long distance sled dogs. They are highly energetic working dogs, but are also well socialized dogs who enjoy attention as much as they enjoy running. There is always time on your trip for giving attention to and taking photos with the dogs.
*Due to our training/race goals we have limited availability, so please contact us well in advance.
Run with the Dew Claw Dogs
Rides
Lasting 1-3 hours, guests can either ride in the basket or
stand on a sled. Either way you will experience the excitement
of being pulled by a team of athletic Alaskan Huskies. Available
at various locations depending on trail conditions.
Ride rates are by the hour.
Discounts for larger groups.
Day Trips
Join us on a training run for an entire day. You will learn some mushing basics, like how to harness and bootie dogs. There will be time to ask questions about dog care and training for distance races. In addition to an extend time on the sled, there will be nice break with snacks for everyone.
Or spend the night on the trail, with possible Aurora viewings and bonfire during a camping break.
Specialty Trips
These can be arranged to meet you or your groups individual needs. At Dew Claw we enjoy planning longer runs and extended trips for our dogs and guests.
Musher Training Trips
Are you a recreational musher interested in camping or racing? We offer extended trips that allow you to practice checkpoint and trail camping routines. Prior to the trip we will work together on packing, drop bags, planning, and logistics for the trip. On the trip we will cover using the cooker, feeding, gear, foot care, and evaluating dogs.
